DIDACTIC UNIT 10. 5TH COURSE. ST. GEORGE AND THE DRAGON. REORDER THE TEXT


     Next Thursday we´ll be celebrating ST. GEORGE´S DAY.

     In Spain St. George (NOT SAN JORDI) is the patron saint of ARAGON and Catalonia

     He´s also the patron saint of ENGLAND.

     First watch these two VIDEOS about the legend of St. George:

     Then do the online tasks and games.

      Now that you´ve remembe the basic facts of the legend is time to move on:
 

      Read ST. GEORGE AND THE DRAGON. THE REAL STORY

     Then copy on a word file or in your notebook the following activity:

The king had promised that the knight who killed the dragon would marry the princess.
B
He took shelter under an enchanted orange tree. After a while St. George attacked the dragon with his sword and hurt him under one wing. The dragon bled out and died.

St. George was born into a noble Christian family in the late third century in Cappadocia (currently in Turkey)

St. George was not scared at all so he struck the dragon with his spear

The dragon´s scales were extremely hard so the spear broke into pieces and St. George fell off his horse.

Dioclecian persecuted and killed Christians. St. George refused to do it. The Emperor imprisioned, tortured and executed him in Palestine on April 23rd, 303.

Nowadays St. George is still the patron saint of England, Aragon and Catalonia.

He became a soldier after his father and fought in the army of  the Roman Emperor Dioclecian.

From the dragon´s blood a red rose blossomed . St. George gave it to the princess and asked her to marry him.

Armoured with his spear, sword and shield St. George called for the dragon.
